Stars pick which actors would play them in a biopic - from David Beckham to Emma Bunton

Great British Bake Off: The Musical has been such a big summer showstopper that speculation has even turned to a movie based on the beloved TV series.

Judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood already know who they want to play them.

Prue says: “I’d like Phoebe Waller-Bridge. In Fleabag she was sufficiently clumsy and uncoordinated.” Paul picked George Clooney, saying: “He’s older than me but is prettier.”

Other big names, with one eye on a Bohemian Rhapsody-style block- buster biopic, also have stars in their sights…

Shane MacGowan - Leonardo DiCaprio

This match-up seems a bit of Titanic leap. Pogues’ frontman Shane MacGowan, 64, wants to be played by The Wolf of Wall Street Leonardo DiCaprio, 47.

He said: “He was adamant that, if there was a Hollywood movie about the Krays, he wanted me to play him and Luke to play Ronnie.”

Elton John - Justin Timberlake

Pop legend Elton John’s amazing and turbulent life was brilliantly portrayed by Taron Egerton in the hot 2019 musical biopic Rocketman.

But Elt’s name in the frame since a video of This Train Don’t Stop Here Anymore had been musician Justin Timberlake, 41.

He said: “Number one on my wish-list is Justin Timberlake. He played me in a David LaChapelle video and was superb.”

US national treasure Dolly Parton, 76, has sized up both Reese Witherspoon, 46, and Scarlett Johansson, 37, for the role. Both are blonde and can sing but the 9 to 5 star admits it’s all down to timing. She said: “It depends on when I get it done.”

She joked: “People always say to me, ‘Why don’t you get Reese Witherspoon to play you?’ And I always say, ‘Her boobs ain’t big enough!’”
