When players think of Stardew Valley, they likely think of calmly tilling the earth, watering freshly planted seeds, and chatting up the residents of nearby Pelican Town. Beyond that cozy exterior, hidden under the surface (literally, in The Mines) is an in-depth combat system with hordes of monsters to take on. To best survive any encounter with slimes, mummies, or serpents, players need to equip themselves with a weapon. To know what weapon will serve best against any foe, read on.
One important note to any list of weapons is that taking on the Mines or Skull Caverns with nothing but a sword or sling is not a wise decision. To best succeed in combat, players should be well stocked on foods like spicy eel, survival burgers, or even the humble plain cheese to boost their stats and recover health. Combining consumables with superior weaponry is the best recipe for success in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley’s best swords

The best sword in Stardew Valley might not always be the one with the highest damage, as factors like stats and enemy-specific buffs can make a huge difference depending on what level players are on in the Mines or Skull Caverns. The following seven swords are all great choices with high damage but also, and more importantly, unique attributes that set them apart.
| Name | Damage | Buffs | Benefits |
| Infinity Blade | 80-100 | Speed: +4 | The highest damage sword in the entire game. A no brainer. |
| Meowmere | 20 | Speed: +4 Weight: +2 |
Very consistent damage (and a great Terraria reference!) |
| Obsidian Edge | 30-45 | Speed: -1 Crit. Power: +10 |
Extremely high critical hit chance makes combat interesting. |
| Dwarf Sword | 65-75 | Speed: +2 Defense: +4 |

| Dark Sword | 30-45 | Speed: -5 Weight: +5 Crit. Chance: +2 Vampiric: 9% |
An interesting blade that gives the chance to gain back 9% of health on every attack. |
Stardew Valley’s best daggers

For anyone that enjoys a faster blade, the dagger is a great choice for combat in Stardew Valley. The main drawback is how limited the range is, but the secondary attack of multiple quick stabs into an enemy can make up for that. Most of the following daggers have good Weight stats, which increases how much an enemy will be knocked back from an attack, something that can be very useful when a player is cornered in the Mines.
| Name | Damage | Buffs | Benefits |
| Infinity Dagger | 50-70 | Speed: +1 Defense: +3 Crit. Chance: +4 Weight: +5 |
Easily the best dagger in Stardew Valley due to the high damage it deals. |
| Iridium Needle | 20-35 | Crit. Chance: +6 Crit. Power +200 |
Difficult to find, but exceptionally high critical hit power makes taking down enemies with one shot much easier. |
| Dragontooth Shiv | 40-50 | Crit. Chance: +3 Crit. Power: +100 Weight: +5 |
High damage combined with +100 critical hit power makes this shiv a deadly weapon. |
| Galaxy Dagger | 30-40 | Speed: +1 Crit. Chance: +1 Weight: +5 |
The lesser version of the Infinity Dagger, but still a solid choice for combat. |
| Dwarf Dagger | 32-38 | Speed: +1 Defense: +6 Crit. Chance: +2 Weight: +5 |
Consistent damage and defense make this a safe bet in the Mines. |
Stardew Valley’s best clubs

Fans of heavy-hitting weapons may gravitate towards the club, a powerful category of weapon that can be slow, but makes up for it by dealing incredible amounts of damage. Using a club takes a bit more strategy in combat, since being overwhelmed by enemies can happen easily, but the tremendous force players can dish out, especially with higher end clubs, makes it possible to beat any crowd back.
| Name | Damage | Buffs | Benefits |
| Infinity Gavel | 100-120 | Speed: +2 Defense: +1 Weight: +5 |
The king of the clubs. High speed, weight, and defense alongside ridiculously high damage. |
| Dragontooth Club | 80-100 | Crit. Power: +50 Weight: +3 |
Found in the Volcano Dungeon, this club has the critical hit power and weight to take down enemies quickly. |
| Galaxy Hammer | 70-90 | Speed: +2 Weight: +5 |
The high weight of this club allows players to hold off more hordes than most other weapons. |
| Dwarf Hammer | 75-85 | Defense: +2 Weight: +5 |
With the same weight as the Galaxy Hammer, the extra defense granted makes staying alive easier. |
Other weapons in Stardew Valley
While swords, clubs, and daggers make up the vast majority of weapon choices in Stardew Valley, there are some other special weapons in the game. The master slingshot needs the right ammo to be effective, but with it, can deal up to 200 damage. Since enemies usually bee-line straight to the player, a ranged weapon like this isn’t always the best choice, but it can still be useful.
A new category of weapon introduced in the 1.6 update are spouse weapons. Sold at the Desert Festival at the different NPC-run booths, spouse weapons cost 70 calico eggs and all do roughly the same damage of 40-55. The ten available are Sebastian’s lost mace, Haley’s iron, Leah’s whittler, Elliott’s pencil, Harvey’s mallet, Sam’s old guitar, Alex’s bat, Penny’s fryer, Maru’s wrench, and Abby’s planchette. Emily and Shane don’t have their own unique weapon, which is too bad, especially considering what fun personality traits they have.
