Star Wars: KOTOR 2 patch fixes game-breaking bug

The Nintendo Switch version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 no longer contains a specific game-breaking glitch.

Early last month, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 was re-released for Nintendo Switch. Shortly after launch, though, many users were experiencing a crash during the Basilisk cutscene transition that made progression next to impossible. It took some time, but developer Aspyr has fixed the issue.

Aspyr made a post on its website that “addresses our top player-reported issues,” with the now-infamous Basilisk Crash bug being at the top. There are other minor patch notes too, but it’s clear this hotfix primarily exists to fix the Basilisk issue.

While not as universally beloved as its prequel, Knights of the Old Republic 2 is a top-tier Star Wars game. There’s cut content DLC coming Nintendo Switch version later this year too. Stuff like new missions, dialogue options, and combat scenarios that were supposed to be part of the original release back in 2004. No release date for any of that yet, but the studio insists it’ll launch in 2022.

Aspyr is also developing the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake alongside Saber Interactive. It’ll likely be an age before we see that project materialize as something on store shelves, though.
