Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake reportedly moves to Saber Interactive

After being (briefly) delayed indefinitely, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has likely found a new home.

According to Bloomberg, Saber Interactive is taking over as lead developer of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake from Aspyr Media. Earlier this year, both studios began co-developing the highly-anticipated RPG. However, it’s unclear how much time Saber Interactive has had with the project already. One source in the report suggested that release is likely two years away. Not exactly what fans want to hear, that’s for sure.

Embracer Group, the parent company of both studios, hinted at this switching of hats on Thursday within its financial earnings report.

“One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group. This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title,” Embracer Group said. “We are not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition.”

Saber Interactive’s most recent effort would be Evil Dead: The Game, which was received well by critics. Remaking a classic western RPG like this is undoubtedly a much more demanding task, though.
