Star Wars Jedi: Survivor new story trailer has fans so ‘pumped’ they’re ‘pinching’ themselves

The official story trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has finally been released, and it has fans so “pumped” they are “pinching” themselves. EA’s Respawn Entertainment dropped the video on Monday (March 20), and gave gamers a closer look at the action-adventure video game set in a galaxy far, far away.

Jedi: Survivor is set five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and as per the trailer, “it’s been a long five years.” The game sees the return of Cal Kestis, one of the last remaining Jedi after their near extinction following Order 66.

Now no longer a Padawan but a powerful Jedi Knight, a clearly battle-hardened Cal continues his crusade against the Empire. He will discover new planets and familiar frontiers in the Star Wars galaxy, as well as mastering new skills, equipment, and abilities.

The latest trailer show’s more of the Jedi: Survivor’s story, and suggests Cal and his friends may have found a new place to call home where the Empire cannot reach. The game’s official synopsis reads: “The dark times are closing in as Cal Kestis seeks out a safe haven far from the reach of the Empire.

“Follow Cal and his crew's increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness.”

Throughout the trailer, fans are given a glimpse at many new locations Cal will visit on his journey. One planet in particular will be all too familiar to Star Wars fans, as it has played a key role throughout the franchise.

That is the city-covered planet Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Empire seen most frequently in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The trailer also shows returning characters Merrin and Greez for the first time – with Merrin sporting a new hairstyle and Greez sporting a new arm – and Cal’s droid companion BD-1.

Plenty of gameplay is shown in the clip, teasing fans with the game’s improved combat mechanics, new enemies, plus more of the new grappling hook Cal can use to reach out-of-reach areas. Cal’s lightsaber and force action is on full display, including the impressive dual-blade lightsaber option.

The Nightsister Merrin is also seen fighting alongside Cal and performing AI assisted takedowns to compliment Cal’s attacks. Star Wars fans have struggled to contain their excitement for Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to a game which by June 2021 had attracted 20m players worldwide.

Reacting to the new trailer on Twitter, @JustTimmNL said: “It looks amazing! This game is gonna be 10.000x better than the last game and Fallen Order was already amazing!”

@MrKyGuy said: “I’m gonna need to get a PS5 just for this game. So excited.”

Jedi: Survivor is slated for release on April 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
