Stan Collymore has warned Jack Grealish not to end up a ‘circus’ like himself or Paul Gascoigne, and told him to be more like Gareth Bale.
Grealish’s boozy antics have found him plastered across newspaper front pages and the internet this summer. Most recently at the weekend, when pictures emerged of him partying with pals in Las Vegas. Grealish himself has pointed out that several England players enjoyed lively holidays after the season ended but that he was the only one highlighted. However, former Liverpool and England striker Collymore has first-hand experience of how this sort of situation can go and he doesn’t want Grealish to be retired early and with the same sort of regrets he had.
Collymore said: “I recoil every time I see him on the front a newspaper because my concern is that, with the acquiescence of the media, he is painting himself as, 'the new Gazza'. Everyone has been looking for one and we thought it might be Phil Foden for a while, but if Jack isn’t careful it’s going to be him.
