The third series of lockdown comedy Staged is getting its terrestrial release on BBC One. Michael Sheen and David Tennant play fictional versions of themselves in the series, which first aired during the pandemic.
The brainchild of writers Simon Evans (who also stars) and Phin Glynn, the first series of Staged focused on David and Michael, who were due to star in a production of Six Characters In Search Of An Author in the West End before lockdown hit. Over the course of the first six episodes, the pair spoke (and argued) over Zoom as they found themselves struggling to adapt to their newfound isolation.
Staged was such a success that a year later, a second series came out. Despite only now getting its terrestrial release, Staged series 3 dropped on Britbox last winter.
