Staff at a popular Merseyside pub have said they are "absolutely devastated" that it will close its doors next week.
The Waterfront on Southport's promenade said on a Facebook post that it wants to ensure "five-star service is delivered to every single guest" until operations cease on Sunday, October 2. The news comes as the site, which is owned by Bliss Investment Partners has been put up for sale, along with the 4-star rated Bliss Hotel.
Staff said it is an "incredibly sad week" and that they want to see "as many of your faces as possible" before it closes down. The sale of The Waterfront and its adjoining site mark a major change for Southport's promenade.

The hotel and pub are located next to the £75m Sefton Council regeneration plan which will see a state-of-the-art Marine Lake Events Centre built in the coming years.
A post on the Waterfront Facebook page said: "I just want to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone that has visited us since our announcement and wished the staff well for the future. It’s been really nice to see the community show so much love and concern for our team members.
"It’s an incredibly sad week for our team. We are all absolutely devastated that this week is our final week but, I wanted to emphasise again that the team wants to go out with a bang. Every single member of our team is more driven than ever to ensure our 5-star service is delivered to every single guest."
