There was an outpouring of disappointment earlier this week when it was announced that popular Newcastle haunt Stack will be closing its doors in just over a month.
Since opening in 2018, the shipping container development on Pilgrim Street, has proven a hit with both Geordies and visitors alike, pulling in massive crowds for the World Cup and Euros, being the place where now established event Kroud Karaoke launched and being home to everyone's favourite festive pop-up Hadrian's Tipi.
Stack has also put a host of local food vendors on the map, as revellers tuck into everything from pizza to duck loaded fries and gyros to sushi as they enjoy a few al fresco drinks. So it came as big blow for many when Stack confirmed it would be closing its doors at the start of May.

Regulars flooded social media with their reactions to Stack closing, with a number of famous faces also having their say in the comment section of the venue's posts. From reality stars to singers and Geordie Shore cast members to football players, it's been a haunt many people have partied at at least once.
So as we all come to terms with the fact that Stack will soon be no more and hope rumours of a re-location are true, we're taking a look at some of the celebs who've become fond of a trip there since it opened.
Chloe Ferry and Bethan Kershaw
The Geordie Shore duo missed Stack so much during the final lockdown at the start of 2021, that they seized at the chance to get back there last April, when outdoor drinking was allowed outside.
With temperatures less than spring-like at the time, Chloe and Bethan took full advantage of Stack's heated lamps as they headed there on the first day of it's re-opening.
The two shared a few pictures and videos from their night out on Instagram, with one depicting a tray full of Pornstar Martini cocktails, complete with the accompanying shots of prosecco. Chloe took to her Instagram the morning after to reveal, like many people in the same boat, she was "so hungover," adding her regret at ordering shots.
Andy Carroll
While pictorial evidence that the Gateshead born striker was a bit of a regular at Stack is rather thin on the ground, you just need to take a look on Twitter to see he was spotted their more than once.
A post from 2019 revealed that the ex Newcastle United player once rocked up to Stack with then teammate Jonjo Shelvey. And then, when it re-opened after the first Covid lockdown in 2020, and Andy missed a game, one NUFC fan joked: "Hahaha nee Andy Carroll tonight, you can tell the stack is back open."
A few months earlier the same fan tweeted: "Nice to see andy Carroll playing through the pain barrier for his club, missing another game, must be 2-4-1 in the stack tonight!"
Christopher Dean
The Winter Olympic legend, who won gold alongside Jayne Torvill in 1984, came to Stack to see a band for his daughter's wedding.
He will be on screen on Sunday night in this year's Dancing on Ice final.
Lillie Haynes
Lillie, the contestant responsible for a whole load of drama on last year's Love Island was one of many Stack followers on Instagram, who voiced their sadness about it closing. Replying to the post about it closing, she wrote: "Nooooo."
Also a big fan of Stack's Seaburn site, South Shields reality star Lillie has a number of photos of her enjoying nights out at both venues on her Insta grid.
Joe McElderry
Another South Shields star who has been a regular at Stack over the last few years. Joe, who won X Factor in 2009 and will embark on his George Michael Freedom tour later this year, often takes shelter with a few bevvies in Hadrian' Tipi over the Christmas period.
Pete Graves
The Sky Sports presenter is a regular at Stack.
Grant Molloy
Another Geordie Shore star on the list, who went from being a Stack customer to working there as a bouncer! Spotting him doing security at the venue in 2019, one fan of the MTV show wrote: "Sooo funny seeing grant from Geordie Shore working as a bouncer at stack."
After a brief stint on Geordie Shore, Grant is now a successful personal trainer.
Toby Flood
The former England international and Newcastle Falcons star has been at Stack, when not on the field at Kingston Park.
Toby, who also played for Toulose and Leicester Tigers, is still on the books at the Falcons as kicking and skills coach.
Professor Green
The rapper loves a visit to Stack when he plays a gig in the city.
Susie Amy
Former Footballers' Wives star Susie became a huge fan of Stack when she arrived in Newcastle in play Fatal Attraction earlier this year.
After growing fond of a takeaway from Stack, Susie took to Instagram after taking her bows at the Theatre Royal one night to dash there before closing time to get one.
Angels of the North cast
The cast of the BBC Three binge watch smash hit are rather partial to a Sunday sesh at Stack, with the evidence documented on their Instagram accounts.
Cast member and owner of Longlox, Sammyjo Pearson is a particular fan of Stack and was there a few weeks ago. Posting a picture of herself enjoying a drink, she wrote: "Me? Out again? Never."
