St Pauls teenager was dealing drugs for the 'Prince' supply line

A St Pauls teenager found to be supplying drugs to Class A users has been spared immediate custody. Police spotted Dalmar Ali-Gaid making exchanges to customers on Stapleton Road last month.

Ali-Gaid was arrested outside a food store and searched. He was found to have 91 wraps of Class A drugs, a card advertising the Prince drug line, a mobile phone and £584.50 in cash.

The 19-year-old, of Brighton Street, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. He also admitted possessing criminal property.

The recorder Mr David Chidgey handed him two years' custody suspended for 18 months. He told Ali-Gaid: "Don't get involved in drug dealing again, it's not worth it. The people at the bottom don't make any money and they all end up going to prison. Someone else makes the money."

Ali-Gaid was ordered to carry out 150 hours' unpaid work. He was also told to participate in 25 days' rehabilitation.

Charlotte Evans, prosecuting, told Bristol Crown Court police found Ali-Gaid with 74 wraps of crack cocaine valued at up to £1,480. He was also found with 17 wraps of heroin valued at up to £340.

Alun Williams, defending, said: "This is a lesser role case. He is 19 and of previous good character. He pleaded guilty without hesitation at the first opportunity. He was wholly compliant on arrest. He is the exploited rather than the exploiter. The bottom of the food chain in drugs supply."
