A Johnstone resident couldn’t believe their luck as they landed big by becoming a winner of a St Mirren legend’s prize draw company.
Legacycomps, run by Saints hero Tony Fitzpatrick, surprised Joe Wallace with a cheque for £3,000.
Joe entered the draw as he felt that it was a “win-win” situation for him as the money gathered from draw entries goes to help people who need it most, as Legacycomps looks to help charities, youth clubs and people with funding.
Speaking about getting the call from Tony to confirm that he was the winner of the huge sum, Joe said he was shocked and couldn’t believe he was talking to the St Mirren legend on the phone, let alone winning the money.
Joe said: “I was in total shock and disbelief that I got the call from Tony and was speaking to him. This was someone I grew up idolising and watching, so to have the chance to speak with him was amazing.
“When he told me I had won the money I was shocked again. I bet everyone says this when they win but I don’t win raffles, let alone the lottery, so it really surprised me.t
“What he is doing with his company is truly brilliant and it was a win-win situation for me and everyone who plays because you are helping people who really need it, as well as having a chance to win big prizes.
“I would urge anyone to play as you have a bigger chance of winning great prizes through free giveaways and lottery tickets than you do with the actual lottery.”
Tony has surprised lots of people with their prizes since launching Legacycomps earlier this year.
Josh Magennis entered and walked away with a segway scooter.
Another winner was Lynn Clarke Cameron, who bagged a £250 voucher.
Tony said that it fills him with pride and delight seeing people have a smile on their faces as he looks to continue surprising and helping people.
He added: “The support that the company has had since its launch has been amazing and I have been blown away by the people who have played.
“Paisley and the surrounding area gave me so much in my career and now this is my way of giving back to the community.
“Charities, youth clubs and general good causes are the foundation of why I started this and I always want to help people who need it most.
“For everyone who enters, just know that your money is helping people during a tough time.”
