The Boston Celtics have been connected to Danilo Gallinari since the Atlanta Hawks sent him to the San Antonio Spurs in a deal for Dejounte Murray. There is no real purpose for Gallinari with the Spurs and he would be better served on a contending team.
Well on Friday, the Spurs waived Gallinari, and once he clears waivers on Sunday at 5 p.m. EDT, he is expected to sign with the Celtics. He averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 66 games with 18 starts in Atlanta in the 2021-22 season.
He is expected to add more depth to an already deep Celtics team. Gallinari is not the greatest defender, but that can change when coached by Ime Udoka in Boston. His offense will be a welcomed addition to the Celtics.
Gallinari will clear waivers on Sunday (5PM ET.) and all signs point to the forward signing with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN.

The Celtics will be welcoming Gallinari to a team that is already established after an impressive turnaround to the NBA Finals. At 34 years old when the season starts, the veteran from Italy is looking to help win a title at this point in his career.
