Spring Statement 2025: More benefits cuts and crackdown on tax avoiders announced as growth forecast halved

The Chancellor laid out further benefits cuts and a crackdown on tax avoiders in her Spring Statement after the UK’s growth forecast was halved.

Rachel Reeves on Wednesday confirmed the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) had revised the UK’s growth forecast for 2025 from 2% in the autumn to just 1% today.
