Spouse, in-laws booked for death of 39-year-old

PUNE: The Airport police on Monday registered a case against a woman, her mother and two brothers for the death of her estranged husband.

The 39-year-old man’s body was found in his house at Lohegaon on January 15. The police had registered a case of accidental death.

“During the probe it was revealed that on January 11, the man was beaten up by his wife and relatives. He was found dead in the house four days later,” assistant inspector Sunil Nirgudkar of the Airport police told TOI.

Nirgudkar said for the past one year, the woman was staying separately due to the victim’s alleged harassment.

“On January 11, she had come to Lohegaon to collect some documents of their children. At that time the victim had hit her. She had to get herself treated in the hospital,” Nirgudkar said.

He said the woman then returned to Lohegaon, along with her irate relatives, and had beaten up her husband.

“We have booked them under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. We are yet to make any arrest in the case,” Nirgudkar said.
