The spookiest festival in South Ayrshire is back with a bang - and thrilling crowds flocking to the county.
Tamfest has returned in physical form after a two year online stint due to the Covid pandemic.
And a month of events are building to a sensational climax in Ayr town centre, when the streets will be transformed into a fright-fest on Sunday, October 30.
Street performers, artists, face painters, musicians, pop-up stalls and street traders will be among those putting on a stunning show to bring the festival to a close.
It follows weeks of events around South Ayrshire which have marked the build-up to Halloween.
The unique festivity has included sell-out ghost tours of Ayr's iconic Tam o' Shanter pub and special performances in spooky performances in Rozelle House Gallery sharing chilling tales of life, death, murder, and myth.
Leading Scottish portraiture and figurative artist, Craig Campbell, has displayed his famous Tam o ’Shanter series in the house, depicting the most epic of poems by Robert Burns including a few new, and yet unseen, original paintings.
Just outside in Rozelle Park, a 'Devil's Playground' is keeping all ages entertained with ghosts, ghouls, witches and warlocks enjoying a new playground.
The Devil has also ventured further afield to The McKechnie Institute in Girvan, and the first floor of the gallery will be transformed into a haunting display of wicked revelry.
Tamfest director, Meredith McCrindle, said: “We unashamedly want to bring a buzz back to Ayr town centre and to get families out together having fun.
"Halloween provides a great opportunity, especially through the link with Burns’ iconic poem, Tam o’ Shanter; not least since we are right in the heart of where the action is set.
“Come and see the Brig where Tam’s mare lost her tail to the witches, listen to live music, eat some street food, walk your dog along the Trail of Terror, browse the stalls, get your face painted, or just soak up the carnival atmosphere. When we say Tamfest offers something for everyone, we really mean it.”
South Ayrshire Council are the main sponsor of the event, which is run by Ayrshire Festivals SCIO. For more information, visit www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/article/24233/Exhibitions-and-events
