'Spoilt' Prince Andrew 'everything Charles wasn't' - rivalry revealed ahead of coronation

Prince Andrew was "spoilt" as a child and "everything Charles wasn't", according to a royal expert.

Ingrid Seward appeared on Good Morning Britain today alongside Lady Victoria Hervey and the show's hosts, Adil Ray and Kate Garraway, where they discussed claims by Emily Maitlis that Prince Andrew didn't realise how bad the Newsnight interview had gone.

In a new documentary, the former BBC presenter claimed that the late Queen Elizabeth was well aware of how much of a car crash the interview went, but Andrew seemed completely unaware.

Ingrid has now opened up about the rivalry between the brothers ahead of the Coronation, after The Mirror previous reported that King Charles could ban Prince Andrew from wearing ceremonial robes at the Coronation.

Speaking on the ITV show today, she said: "I just don't think he's lived in the real world. I think Prince Andrew was so spoilt as a child because suddenly he was the most gorgeous bouncy chirpy baby. He was everything that dear Prince Charles wasn't."

The King's coronation on May 6 is a "Collar Day", which means members of the Order of the Garter, can wear regalia and collar that signifies the British orders of knighthood they belong to. It could be that Andrew will have to wear a suit, as he was stripped of his military appointment Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

A royal insider told The Mirror: "Andrew is furious. He’s already not playing a part and now he feels he is being disrespected and dictated to over something he is fully entitled to wear."

It has also been claimed, in a bombshell book, that Andrew "lobbied hard" for Charles not to become King when his mother passed away. Instead, Andrew was said to be keen to see William take the crown next.

The book claims that Andrew's behaviour was "very, very negative and extremely unpleasant" to the Queen, who disagreed with him, and it marked a rare occasion where Andrew didn't get what he wanted.

An abridged extract from 'Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: From Outcast to Queen Consort', as shared by The Telegraph, claims that Andrew tried to block Charles marrying Camilla by being "quite poisonous, mean, unhelpful and very nasty about Camilla".
