SpiceJet flight turns back after smoke: Will plane explode? Flyer recounts 30 minutes of terror

Pankaj Dubey, a senior advocate in Jabalpur who was on board the SpiceJet SG2962 flight that filled up with smoke on Saturday, recounts to TOI the half-hour of terror as passengers clamped wet towels on their noses and feared that the plane would explode at any moment.

There was nothing to indicate anything amiss when we boarded for the 6.15am flight. Arrival in Jabalpur was 8am.
