Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had assured him of convening a special meeting to address the issues related to central projects in the State.
“These projects are to be taken up through the banks and the meeting will be convened during her visit to Karnataka. We have also decided to organise a conclave of millet farmers in Raichur on the occasion of International Millets Day,” he told reporters in New Delhi after meeting the Finance Minister. “The Union Finance Minister also informed that the finance approval for Upper Bhadra project to be declared as a national project is the final stages.”
The Chief Minister said: “The issue of including three Energy Department projects in the Green Corridor too are coming before the Finance Ministry for approval. The Minister has responded positively to the request.” He also said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assigned various tasks for the party leaders and he has instructed development of 75 lakes in the State. A special programme for development of lakes in Kolar would be launched under the leadership of Mr. Modi.”
