Several dog breeds including Welsh Springer spaniels, Cardigan Welsh corgis, greyhounds and fox terriers could be at risk of vanishing in the UK, The Kennel Club has warned.
The Club has compiled a list of the breeds in the UK that they consider to be ‘vulnerable’, encouraging who are people thinking about getting a dog to consider welcoming one of these breeds into their home so that they don’t disappear. The list is made up of dogs who have had fewer than 300 registrations with the Kennel Club in the space of a year, The Mirror reports .
The Kennel Club explains on its website: “Vulnerable native breeds are dog breeds of British and Irish origin that are considered to be vulnerable due to their declining registration numbers. These breeds are at risk of disappearing from our parks and streets, simply because people don’t know they exist or because they aren’t considered fashionable.”
