Spain vs Italy lineups: Starting XIs, confirmed team news and injury latest for Nations League today

Luis de la Fuente has picked the French-born defender following his declaration of allegiance to La Roja last month.

Yeremy Pino also gets the nod in the attack opposite Leeds winger Rodrigo Moreno.

Sergio Busquets has retired, meaning Manchester City treble-winner Rodri starts alongside regular partner Mikel Merino with Pedri ruled out through injury.

The Italians, meanwhile, are striving towards getting back to a World Cup after missing the last two. Although Roberto Mancini has won the Euros, the Azzurri remain a shadow of themselves on the world stage.

Argentine-born Mateo Retegui is only on the bench after two goals in his first two international appearances. Ciro Immobile gets the nod ahead of him in a 5-3-2 formation.

Spain XI: Simon; Navas, Le Normand, Laporte, Alba; Moreno, Rodri; Rodrigo, Gavi, Pino; Morata.

Italy XI: Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Acerbi, Toloi, Spinazzola; Frattesi, Barella, Jorginho; Immobile, Zaniolo.
