South Korea's Kospi, jumped around 4% on Tuesday to recover some losses, although the index continues to comfortably remain in the bear market. Kospi is the world's best-performing major equity benchmark of 2026, which crashed around 31% in just a month.
Kospi rose to 6,764 on Tuesday, snapping a two-session losing streak when it crashed 10%. This recovery came as the shares of chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which make up just over half of the benchmark Kospi, jumped up to 6%. The index is still nearly 28% lower than its June peak of 9,386.
