A Dublin council has warned its housing customers to be aware of a dangerous scam targeting them.
South Dublin County Council has warned that the email comes from an email claiming to be the council's housing department. It then goes on to request money for an allocation for a home if they are waiting on the housing list.
But the council will never request money for such an allocation. They are urging anyone who had received such an email to get in touch with them as soon as possible.

"Please do not open emails or attachments from unknown sources. SDCC never request money for an allocation. Should you receive such an email please contact communications@sdublincoco.ie."
