Soup sold at Sainsbury's recalled over potential health risk

Packs of a noodle soup sold at Sainsbury's have been pulled from the shelves due to a potential health risk. Itsu is recalling its chilled Itsu Noodle Soup Veg Gyoza and Greens because some packs have been mispacked with a prawn gyoza.

This contains crustaceans, which is not mentioned on the label. And is therefore unsuitable for vegetarians and vegans and a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy to crustaceans.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the affected packs are 230g, use-by dates up to and including October 15, 2022. A spokesperson for Sainsbury's said: "Please do not consume this product with these use by dates if you have an allergy or intolerance to crustaceans or are vegetarian/vegan.

"If you have bought the above-mentioned product, we advise you not to open it. For a full refund send a picture of the use by date on the packaging."

On its website, Itsu writes: “If you have purchased Itsu Noodle Soup Veg Gyoza & Greens (230g), please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt."

It added: "No other date codes affected." Itsu said on the website that they were “very sorry” for the “inconvenience” that had been caused.

Those who have bought the product can send a picture of the use by date on the packaging to customerservices@itsugrocery.com for a full refund. If preferred, contact Itsu (grocery) on 0333 224 9510.
