Son of rock icon opens bar under Manc Way flyover

The Beavertown Brewery has unveiled a brand new bar underneath the Mancunian Way flyover on Oxford Road. Now resident at the Hatch development, the bar is open for business selling the brewery’s classic IPAs Neck Oil, Gamma Ray and session lager Bones.

There are also cans of the brewery’s low alcohol session beer Nanobot, Heavy Gravity and other rotating new releases hitting the fridges in the coming months. The bar is fashioned from one of the shipping containers used across the Hatch site, and is squirrelled away at the back of the development.

Beavertown is, of course, famously founded by Logan Plant, son of British rock icon Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. Plant founded the brewery in 2011 in Haggerston, East London, with its distinctive artwork and focus on IPA style beers quickly making it a hit among craft beer lovers.

Then in 2018, it was announced that brewing giant Heineken had bought nearly half of the company, allowing it to build a new brewery in Tottenham, North London, and massively increase its output. It now even has a taproom and microbrewery inside Tottenham Hotspur’s ground.

Nick Dwyer, Creative Director from Beavertown Brewery, said: “Our initial ethos of everything looking as good as it tastes, and vice versa, has evolved over time to cover everything from experiences, to venues, to brick walls and shipping containers.

"Our biggest illustration invasion to date, Hatch is a perfect opportunity to get Beavertown across via every sense imaginable, with our amazing beers on the bars, our distinctive visually adorning every wall and hopefully people having the time of their lives.”

Inside, the decor of the bar is plastered floor to ceiling with that famous Beavertown artwork, and it's open Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm. Food from the site’s many food outlets - from Parmogeddon to new traders like Indian street food folks Cheeky Tikka - can be ordered to eat in the bar too.
