Sofia Richie is no stranger to the fashion world.
Since her modelling debut in Teen Vogue at the age of 14, Richie’s career has gone from strength to strength. Born in LA to music superstar Lionel Richie, and sister to It girl Nicole Richie, the youngest of three was destined for the spotlight.
Now 23 years old, Richie has campaigns for fashion giants Tommy Hilfiger and Adidas under her belt, walking credits for Chanel and Yeezy, and has been featured on the cover of Tatler and ES to name a few.
More recently, the socialite has turned her hand to fashion design, collaborating with brands like Frankies Bikini and Missguided to create capsule collections that include swimwear, denim, and accessories.
This summer she teamed up with River Island, editing a collection which reimagines modern classics including a relaxed linen suit perfect for a summer city break, and a flowy printed co-ord that can take you from pool side to beach bar - all in a classic earthy colour palette.
In April, the former ES cover star announced her romantic engagement to her boyfriend of one year, music executive Elliot Grainge, on Instagram with the caption ‘forever isn’t long enough’. The 28-year-old proposed with an emerald-cut diamond ring, while surrounded by candles on a beach.
Her previous on-off three year relationship with Scott Disick, ex-boyfriend of Kourtney Kardashian, garnered much media attention due to the 16-year age gap.
We caught up with Richie to find out her Favourite Things.
What are you up to at the moment?
Life is great. I have a lot going on between working on a new fun project, and more personal stuff like planning a wedding!
How was the process of working with River Island on this collection?
Curating my edit for River Island has been an incredible experience, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it, wear it and feel as amazing as I do in each of the looks. The brand stands for everything I believe in fashion-wise - great quality, fashion-forward looks with simplicity and elegance. My summer edit is full of both standout pieces and wardrobe staples at the same time. I describe it as high-street luxe.
What’s your favourite piece from the collection?
My two favourite pieces from the edit are the little black dresses. They are easy and effortless: you can take and wear them anywhere.
I also love the gorgeous, paisley co-ord and the relaxed oversized suit.
How would you describe your style and what are your wardrobe staples?
My style is constantly adapting and evolving. At my core though, I always go for subtle and chic pieces, even simply pairing a white shirt with some great cut jeans can be a standout look.
My wardrobe staple - a great pair of jeans is essential to any wardrobe. The ones I’m wearing in the campaign are going to be my go-to this summer.
What has been your favourite fashion trend and what’s something you wish would end?
My favourite trend this year is platform heels. I’m not sure if that is actually a current trend, but I feel like I’m seeing more and more people wearing them, and I’m here for it!
I’m personally not against any trend, as long as you’re staying true to yourself.
How do you treat yourself?
A day of self-care for me is staying home with my dogs and my fiancé, and enjoying sunny LA in my backyard.
What five beauty products can you not live without?
Five beauty products I cannot live without would be chapstick, eyebrow gel, eyelash curler, face moisturiser, and a good contour stick.
What accessories could you not go without this summer?
This summer I want to play more with jewellery and bags. I feel like having the right bag or jewellery can make a look. There’s a really cute bag in my edit that will for sure be an essential this summer.
