SNAPSHOT FROM DAY NINE OF THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN AT MELBOURNE PARK:

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Former world No.3 Elina Svitolina continued her strong run in a straight-sets elimination of Veronika Kudermetova. Sivtolina fell behind 4-1 in the first set but took advantage of an injury to Kudermetova to win 6-4 6-1. The 30-year-old Ukranian is now into the quarter-finals for the first time in six years and will take on two-time Open semi-finalist Madison Keys.
