Slane Castle has announced a new weekend music festival this July.
It comes after Slane Castle owner Lord Henry Mountcharles revealed this year’s proposed double summer concert has been postponed until next year. But on Friday festival organisers announced a new three-day festival – Otherside Music and Arts Festival at Rock Farm, which is at the Co Meath venue, from July 8 until July 10.
In a statement, festival organisers said: “For two whole summers, we have waited. Now, finally, we cross over to the Otherside. Embracing a new energy of freedom we invite you to join us for the brand new Otherside Music & Arts Festival this July 8th-10th. Gather your tribe for a three-day celebration of music, dance, art, comedy, wellness, food and connection.”

Music acts include Nialler9, Lucy McWilliams, Joe Goddard, Lane 8 and DJ Seinfeld Presents: Mirrors Live, while comedians Anna Clifford, Emma Doran, Killian Sunderman, Michael Fry, Peter McGann, Shane Byrne, Simon Hennessy and Tony Cantwell will also perform over the weekend.
The festival looks set to rival Electric Picnic, with weekend campaign tickets on sale from E125.
“The gorgeous site on Rock Farm sits in the shadow of the famous Slane Castle, a mere 40-minute drive from Dublin on the banks of the River Boyne.
"Spreading beneath a canopy of native forests and through the picturesque meadows of the Boyne Valley, Rock Farm is a lush playground for this inaugural intimate gathering.
“Navigate your way through a host of cleverly designed and beautifully decorated stages to find a carefully curated programme of live and electronic music combined with daytime comedy. With stages hosted by The Cobblestone Bar, District Magazine, The Midnight Disco, Melodic and more to be announced,” the statement said.
Organisers are also creating a spa for those looking to go on a wellness retreat for the weekend – the team at RISE Nordic Spa are putting together wood-fired hot tubs, saunas and morning yoga sessions as well as a swim in the lake nearby.
They also promise after-hours trad sessions programmed by The Cobblestone or “dancing into the early hours at the Forest Stage, there will be a buzz and a place for everyone.”
Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.ie
