New York singer/songwriter Jesse Malin will release his autobiography Almost Grown next month. Its described as "a raw, honest, and often funny account of how a hyperactive kid from Queens made his dreams come true - and the hustlers, sweethearts, misfits, and lifelong friends he met along the way."
In 2023, Malin was struck with a rare spinal stroke that paralysed him from the waist down. In order to raise funds to aid his recovery, 28 artists - Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, and Frank Turner among them - recorded covers of their favourite Malin songs for a benefit album, Silver Patron Saints: The Songs of Jesse Malin. It's a reminder that Malin is one of America's most under-rated songwriters.
In 2015, Malin discussed his multi-faceted career with Louder. It's been one hell of a ride.
