Sky TV remote hacks including hidden button and hack to find it when lost

The iconic Sky television remote has changed quite significantly in appearance over the past decade or so.

But that isn't all that's changed, there are now a host of little-known features that the clever piece of tech comes with. Those with a Sky Q box in particular might want to learn about these helpful tips and tricks, writes the Mirror.

The newest channel changer from Sky offers a host of hidden features that can make your evening viewing more convenient.

From a secret button which can launch a popular on-screen function to a way to find your remote when it’s lost, here are all the best TV remote hacks.

Find your remote

Those who face-the age old issue of the disappearing remote can breathe easy as Sky has a nifty trick to track it down.

All you have to do is head to the Sky Q set-top box and press the Q logo that glows on its front.

Your missing accessory should then start loudly bleeping to help you track it down.

Switch channels with ease

If you want to quickly switch between two of your favourites, then you simply need to press the right button on the control panel arrows and a menu will appear on the screen showing the last channel you were watching.

This allows you to bypass the hassle of memorising the channel number - which can change from time to time - or scrolling through the TV guide.

As long as you've been tuned in for over a minute you can then skip between the two.

Jump to your recordings

All you need to do to catch up on recordings is punch the Sky logo at the top of the remote and the box will immediately load the Recordings page.

Many Sky Q viewers on social media thought the logo on the remote was purely decorative.

"I’ve had Sky Q in my house for nearly 2 yrs and literally just realised the Sky logo at the top of the remote is actually a button," a Twitter user said.

You can also tap the blue voice button and say "Go to recordings", "My recordings", "Take me to recordings", or "Open my recordings".

Keep watching while finding a new show

When watching live TV, you can press the main button in the centre of the arrow keys to keep the content you're viewing to remain on the full screen.

A channel listing box will appear at the bottom where you can then use up and down arrows to look at what else is on.

Fast forward more quickly

There is a secret way to get to the middle of a movie much more quickly.

Press the up arrow key when watching a recording to bring up a timeline bar at the bottom of the screen. By pressing the right arrow key, you'll then be able to speed through the action until you let go.

You can also use voice control to "Go To 45 Minutes" or "Skip 30 Minutes".
