Sky TV may have installed a major upgrade to your system while you slept

Sky television users make wake up this morning to find that a full upgrade has been made to their equipment overnight.

The media company previously announced Sky Glass TV customers and users of the new Stream box device would see some big changes and it seems that a number of upgrades have been rolled out across the UK on Sunday, November 20.

Users of the streaming service and box should see updates issued automatically. Among them are a new Bluetooth feature, layout and and improvements to the Playlist recording function which has faced technical hiccups, reports Wales Online.

The glitch caused the most recently aired shows to be buried in the playlist, meaning users would have to scroll through to find the most recent episode. According to Sky, this issue is been resolved.

A new "most recent" banner will allow for easy show access, as it will appear on the top screen and display the latest releases. The Playlist feature is also being moved to a more noticeable position on the home screen.

Another new feature — and one of the most demanded by viewers — is a Bluetooth facility, which should let Sky Glass subscribers watch TV using wireless headphones, so people can watch films at a reasonable volume without disturbing those around them.

Sky is also promising more features by Christmas, including personalised lists, which will recommend films and shows based on your own tastes. The idea is for adults not to be bombarded with children's programmes, while the kids should be protected from anything that could be labelled as inappropriate for minors.

The company is also boosting its Sky Glass visuals via a new "vivid mode" via the options menu, making pictures more punchy and richer in colours.

The news comes as the Sky Glass system lowered the prices for its sets in the Black Friday sales in order to boost subscriber numbers.
