Former Everton captain Alan Stubbs has blasted Sky Sports over their commentary of Liverpool ’s Merseyside derby win over the Toffees on Sunday.
Ex-Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher commentated on the game alongside Martin Tyler. Former Reds midfielder and manager Graeme Souness was also in the studio as a pundit, joined by former Everton striker Kevin Campbell, who also played for Arsenal in his career.
During Liverpool’s 2-0 win, Carragher said that Everton forward Richarlison was play-acting when holding his ankle on the stroke of half-time that led to Abdoulay Doucoure getting booked for trying to get the game stopped when fouling Fabinho.
“Honestly, get up. Get up, carry on,” Carragher said when Richarlison went down injured. “If Doucoure gets a yellow card because his teammate goes down. Stupid from Doucoure trying to stop the game but Richarlison, there's nothing wrong with him.”
That incident led to Stubbs, who played for the Toffees between 2001 and 2005 and between 2006 and 2008, tweeting his frustrations at Carragher’s commentary of the game.
“Will have to turn this commentary off I think @Everton because it's so biased!!” former Everton captain Stubbs tweeted. “Richarlison clearly goes over on his ankle and is accused of cheating!! Liverpool class my a***.”

The Reds secured victory in the second half of the derby thanks to goals from Andrew Robertson and substitute Divock Origi. The result keeps Jurgen Klopp’s side in the title race, a point behind Man City heading into the final five games of the season.
Frank Lampard’s Everton side sit 18 th in the Premier League table after the loss, two points away from safety. Burnley ’s 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday saw them escape the relegation zone.
The Toffees have just six games left in the 2021/22 season as they fight to try and avoid a first relegation in well over 60 years. Their final fixtures come against Chelsea, Leicester City, Watford, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
Liverpool’s title pursuit will partially be affected by their progression in the Champions League. On Wednesday, they take on Spanish side Villarreal in the first leg of their semi-final clash, with the two sides meeting again for the second leg in Spain just six days late.
Title rivals City are also in the mix to win the league and the Champions League. Their semi-final is against Spanish giants Real Madrid, with the first leg of that clash coming on Tuesday night.
In Liverpool’s most recent meeting with City, they recorded a 3-2 win over the Sky Blues to book a place into next month’s FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
