Rush-hour traffic ground to a snail's pace across parts of Canberra on Thursday morning following a six-car pile-up on Tuggeranong Parkway along Weston Creek.
Traffic was expected to return to normal by 10.30am as crews cleared the wreckage.
An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said the collision occurred at about 8.15am in a southbound lane of the main arterial highway.
"There was no requirement for an ambulance at the scene," the spokesperson confirmed.
Despite the lack of any injuries to the drivers involved, the multi-vehicle crash completely blocked the lane, forcing peak-hour traffic to crawl through the single adjacent lane. The blockage triggered a cascading effect across the city's network, leaving motorists facing unusually long delays on Thursday morning.
ACT Policing and emergency services remained at the scene until the vehicles were removed.
