Move over Spotify Wrapped, because the other massive yearly data drop of 2024 has just been released by the digital matchmakers over at Tinder. That’s right, the cupids have pulled out their calculators to present all the juicy stats about dating trends in Australia and around the world in Tinder’s Year In Swipe 2024!
As the year comes to a close (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH), it’s natural to want to reflect on how we spent the last 12 months — which is why trends like Spotify Wrapped and Tinder’s Year In Swipe have become such pivotal traditions for wrapping up before New Year’s Day.
On Tuesday afternoon, Tinder dropped all the stats on which interests, bios, artists, and star signs were the most popular among its users in 2024.
Additionally, the dating app gave a peak at what the dating styles and trends were in fashion this year, and what its singles were looking for in a partner. Good news: Situationships are out, and loud-looking is in.
“Singles are embracing intentionality in their dating lives—being upfront about what they want and refusing to settle. This shift has driven three standout trends: Loud Looking, Kiss-met, and Nano-ships,” said Tinder’s CMO Melissa Hobley.
“While last year was focused on ‘dating for the plot’ and casually exploring this year, singles are stepping up, leading with purpose, and making their dating journeys truly their own.”
Here’s what else was revealed in Tinder’s Year In Swipe 2024:

Biggest Dating Trends in 2024
Loud Looking
While 2023’s Year In Swipe revealed that everyone wanted to have “main character energy” and “date for the plot”, these trends have been corrected in 2024 by what Tinder calls “loud looking”.
According to the dating app, users are being loud and clear about exactly what they are looking for. Whether they’re on the hunt for a “man in finance” or a “gamer girlfriend”, all vagueness has been thrown out the window.
Kiss-met
Explained as a “playful twist on kismet” which means destiny or fate, this year’s trend of meet cutes are back.
Tinder users in 2024 have been using the app to embrace the unplanned-but-planned moments, and welcomed spontaneity on their dates to find authentic connections.
In terms of what this means going forward, Tinder says: “2025 is trending towards the real, unscripted moments that make dating so memorable.”
Nano-Ships
Situationships are a thing of the past, as the world has embraced nano-ships. Hallelujah!
Instead of wondering for months as to the status of a relationship, singles on Tinder this year have been finding deeper meaning in the small — nay, nano — things that bring them closer to a partner.
For some it’s as simple as getting that regular “good morning” text, and for others its having someone to go grocery shopping with. We’re getting optimistic and finding joy in everything next year!
Wishing you all the best of luck in your swiping journey as 2024 ends, and next year begins!
