'Sister wants to copy my covid vaccination certificate so she can travel to Bali'

A woman has turned to social media for legal advice - after her sister asked for a copy of her COVID vaccination certificate so that she could "Photoshop her details onto it for travel purposes".

Posting on Reddit, user 'miakhadoofa' wrote: "I don't want to be involved in anything dodgy like this. What would the ramifications be if she got caught doing this?

"She wants to travel to Bali but hasn't had any vaccinations. I've tried to advise her not to do it but she thinks I'm being unreasonable."

However, Reddit users have urged the woman not to agree to her sister's demands - warning her that the consequences could be dire. Caroline140 posted: "Aside from it being fraud and you should not get involved - the vaccination certificate has a QR code and in my experience it has always been scanned.

"So, unless your sister has the same date of birth and name as you her plan isn't going to work."

Luqidio wrote: "The QR code will contain all your details, and make it very clear it is not her certificate. What she wants to do is not possible. This goes back a while, but it seems using fake documents can mean up to six years in an Indonesian prison."

Waamonady said: "A quick look at the entry requirements says they check your vaccination certificate isn't fake. You have to scan it onto an app where it checks your details. The chances of her getting caught are significant"

And multijoy wrote: "It’s fraud. She’s not going to be prosecuted in the UK but she’ll be decidedly ****** off when Bali don’t let her in.

"Tell her to get her jabs or an exemption certificate and have no part in this nonsense."

AlexKinch added: "It doesn’t matter what she thinks, it’s fraud and your answer needs to be “no”. Simple as.

"Besides, there’s a barcode on it to stop exactly this kind of stupidity."

Replying to the people who had offered her advice, 'miakhadoofa' wrote: "Thanks I have shared this link with her. Hopefully this will be enough to help her realise that attempting this is not worth it!"
