MUMBAI: Observing that "by no stretch of the imagination, a single parent can be held to be ineligible to be an adoptive parent on the ground that he or she is a working person," the Bombay high court on April 2 allowed a single divorced working woman to adopt her sister’s child.
The district court denying the adoption reflected a 'medieval' concept of family, said the HC.
