A singer who believes he was booted off The X Factor 'for being too bald' has been filmed emotionally hugging his barber after an 'amazing' hair transformation restored his self-esteem - now he's joined a band and is ready to step back into the spotlight. Mark Hawkins says his hair troubles halted his dream of making the leap from club singer to national superstar by battering his confidence and ruining his 'image' in the eyes of TV talent spotters.
The 39-year-old's hairline dramatically thinned and receded between aged 19 and 25, causing him to become anxious of people looking at him rather than enjoying his time on stage. Despite claiming Simon Cowell said he had a 'good voice' in a 2007 X Factor audition, he didn't make it past the next round - and Mark believes it's because producers didn't think he looked like a star.
He ditched full-time singing at aged 27 to get a 'proper job' and support his kids but he's worn a cap every day for the past decade to hide his balding barnet. The dad finally ended his embarrassment earlier this month [March 16] when he visited hair replacement firm Novo Cabelo to restore his confidence.
