HYDERABAD: Since the formation of Telangana in 2014, the last two-and-a-half years have been the wettest for the state. The Telangana State Development Planning Society's (TSDPS) updated average and actual annual data (in weather and climatology report) have revealed that in the years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, the state had received the heaviest actual annual rain precipitation.
The rainfall in these two years was 46.1% and 30% more than the normal rainfall (average of three decades) the state experienced in the previous three decades due to intensity of the precipitation. Not surprisingly, weather experts attribute this to altered climatic conditions — a similar phenomenon which was seen throughout South Asia.
