American gymnast Simone Biles has announced her engagement to NFL star Jonathan Owens, with the Olympic champion describing the proposal as the "the easiest yes" ever.
Biles announced the sporting couple's engagement via a post on Instagram on Tuesday, as she shared photos of Owens' romantic proposal.
In two hours, Biles’ post to her 6.8 million Instagram followers has attracted over one million likes and counting.
Along with the images, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist added the caption: “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! Let's get married FIANCÉ.”
New fiancee Owens then took to the comments to reply, as he commented: “Ready for forever with you.”
The Houston Texans man also announced the engagement via his own Instagram account, posting the same images with the caption: “Woke up this morning with a fiancée.
“Appreciate my dawg @don_julio314 for helping me set everything up, she really had no clue what was coming @zofrost you went crazy on this one bro really made the night special”
A number of Owens’ fellow NFL stars took to the comments section of his post to congratulate the Texans safety and his new fiancee on the news.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Daurice Fountain wrote: “Congratulations brotha.”
Whilst his Texans teammate, Kamu Grugier-Hill responded: “CONGRATS BROTHER.”
Their engagement comes a year and a half since the pair first got together, after they started dating in the summer of 2020.
Is Simone Biles the greatest gymnast of all time? Let us know in the comments section.
Biles is tied as the most decorated gymnast of all time, having won a combined 32 medals at the Olympic Games and the World Championships.
The American however endured a difficult Olympics in Tokyo last summer, after having to withdraw from five of her six finals due to feeling disorientated whilst competing.
Biles spoke bravely about the mental pressures of competing at the highest level during an emotional interview with Today late last year.
She said: “To do something that I’ve done forever and just not be able to do it because of everything I’ve gone through is really crazy because I love this sport so much.
“It’s hard. I’m sorry. And I don’t think people understand the magnitude of what I go through.
“But for so many years to go through everything that I’ve gone through having a front, I’m proud of myself.”
