Simon Cowell reckons Ant and Dec are so good that ITV should sign them for life.
Bosses at the channel are reportedly in talks to try to extend the Geordie duo’s deal for several more years.
Simon, 62, who has worked alongside Ant and Dec on ITV shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, said: “I’d sign them up for ever.
“ Ant and Dec are the best. There’s no question. There’s nobody like them.
“I’ve known them now for over 20 years. They really are fun, but their brilliance is understanding the audience of the show. They really relate to the audience and they haven’t changed at all. They’re very nice people.”
Simon added: “And, importantly, they love the acts. If I was running ITV, I wouldn’t think twice about it.”
Bafta-winning duo Ant and Dec, both 46, also host ITV shows I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Saturday Night Takeaway, and Limitless Win. They also presented Pop Idol, and Red or Black?.
The pair said this month that their plans include a new series of Saturday Night Takeaway next year.
Simon, due to be on air with Ant and Dec tonight for the start of the BGT live shows, revealed last week he hopes to revive The X Factor.
The talent show judge said: “I do miss it. I’d like them to bring it back.”
