Simon Cowell has reportedly suffered a second serious e-bike accident in less than 18 months, going over on the road near his west London home last Thursday (24 January).
The Britain’s Got Talent judge was turning a sharp corner in wet conditions when the bike “went out from under him” and sent him crashing into the ground, according to a report by TMZ.
Cowell was said to have been driving the e-bike at a speed of about 20mph when the accident occurred, and the 62-year-old was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital with a broken arm, badly bruised cheek and possible concussion.
He was discharged the same day, with a bright yellow cast and orders to rest, sources told the US news outlet.
The Independent has reached out to Cowell’s representatives regarding the reported incident.
One source told The Sun that Cowell wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time and emerged from the crash with “blood pouring from his face”. They described him as “lucky to be alive”.
“Simon insists he’s not ditching the bike — but he will start wearing a helmet,” they added.
Reports of the crash come 18 months after the prominent British media personality and reality TV judge broke his back while testing out his new £10,000 e-bike in the courtyard of his Malibu home.
Speaking about the incident after he was forced to undergo surgery, Cowell quipped: “Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that Cowell had proposed to 44-year-old socialite Lauren Silverman after nine years together.
According to People, Cowell popped the question during a family holiday in Barbados.
