Simon Cowell jokes about his horrific injury as he brands BGT act 'new One Direction'

Simon Cowell quipped about his horrific e-bike crash on Britain's Got Talent, the ITV talent show competition.

Simon, 63, was rushed to hospital and sustained a fractured arm after skidding at 20mph and flying over the handlebars of his e-bike into the middle of the road, in January 2022.

It was the TV star's second e-bike crash in 18 months after he broke his back on an e-bike in Los Angeles.

During tonight's episode, Simon referenced the crash when act, Parkour Collective performed a Parkour routine.

Trio George, Ed and Travis were asked whether it's painful if the act goes wrong, and they replied it's about learning how to land.

The music mogul replied while laughing: "You could have told me that three years ago."

Simon said the trio's entrance, which saw them performing terrifying stunts and moves, was the "best entrance I've ever seen on this show."

The judge said the trio were like a boyband and described them as "the Next Direction."

Soon after the terrifying accident Simon told a reporter in February 2022: "I'm OK. I'm feeling much better thank you. It happened just around the corner.

“'I'm a bit of a nutter. I'll definitely wear a helmet next time.”

Tonight's launch saw new judge Bruno Tonioli make his debut, and Simon has previously described the former Strictly judge as a "natural fit."

"It was quite remarkable. Even though he'd never seen the show before, it was just brilliant," Simon said.

"It was seamless and as I said before, he's brought some chaos to the show."

"But I'm kind of watching the show through his eyes again because he has never seen it and he's so excited. It really is great."

Bruno has admitted to never watching Britain's Got Talent before he got the job, joking he could have been fired on his first day because of it.

Bruno appeared on This Morning and told hosts Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson about his rocky start.

He says the call from long-term pal Simon came at the eleventh hour but has loved filming the auditions.

"This happened last moment, I'd never seen the show," he said.

Simon said to be 'there's no rules, my darling' - but I broke them immediately with the golden buzzer and pushed it twice!

"I did it mid-flow, and the confetti exploded with the kids in mid performance. It happens, but by magic it gave them an extra push but it could have been a disaster, I could have been sacked!"
