Konami’s Transmission streaming event will provide updates on the handful of Silent Hill projects coming down the pipe.
"Consider this your invitation letter to Silent Hill,” read the Konami announcement post of the Silent Hill Transmission event on X. The stream of the show will be available on the Silent Hill YouTube channel. This is the second Silent Hill Transmission show. The first was in October 2022.
There are so many Silent Hill projects in the works, Konami doesn't need to unveil more in this second show. Silent Hill 2 is getting a remake and there are two games as yet unreleased: Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f. There has been very little news on either title since 2023. Given the slew of redundancies, project cancellations and studio closures seen in recent months, we have fingers crossed these projects are going ahead.
The Konami announcement of Transmission offers no indication of how many games will feature. "We'll share game updates, a deeper look at the film, and new merch,” it wrote.
Silent Hill 2’s remake is the upcoming title the furthest along. It received a “combat reveal" trailer on January 31, 2024. This led some commentators to suggest the remake may have lost the feel of the original, which was propelled by atmosphere and story, rather than the mechanics of combat.
It was already known the game would be released this year but no specific date has been given yet. It’s one of the key pieces of information anticipated from Silent Hill Transmission 2024.
Silent Hill’s upcoming film is called Return to Silent Hill and is written and directed by Christopher Gans. He directed the 2006 Silent Hill film as well as a 2014 French live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast starring Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux. It came out a few years before Disney's own live action adaptation.
Since the last Silent Hill Transmission stream in 2022, Konami has released free short game Silent Hill: The Short Message and Silent Hill: Ascension, an "interactive horror television" app for iPhone and Android phones. Neither project was met with a particularly positive critical response.
