Sienna Miller reveals she didn’t expect dress to be so sheer when announcing pregnancy at Fashion Awards

Sienna Miller has revealed that she didn’t intend for her third pregnancy announcement to be quite so eye-catching as it turned out to be.

The 44-year-old actor made headlines when she stepped out at The Fashion Awards last December in a sheer white Givenchy gown to announce the news that she was expecting with her second child with her 29-year-old partner, Oli Green.

“I didn’t realise it would be quite that see-through in the camera lights,” the star told The Telegraph. “I felt confident. I had a press junket the following morning and thought it would be a good way to get the news of my pregnancy out there beforehand,” she said of the decision.

Miller, who already shares a daughter with Green, who they welcomed in January 2024, as well as 13-year-old daughter Marlowe with her ex-boyfriend Tom Sturridge, has a playful approach to maternity style.

She previously showed off her second pregnancy at Vogue World in London in 2023 in an ivory two-piece set by Schiaparelli, which framed her bare bump as she posed on the red carpet in the capital.

“I was nervous about the idea of it,” she told Vogue of the outfit choice at the time. “But once I had it on, everything else felt boring. I was like, ‘I’ll have that photo for the rest of my baby’s life.”

At 44, Miller is considered a “geriatric mother” and said that she sees her more daring pregnancy outfits as an opportunity to go against her own prejudice that women who’re expecting should look a certain way.

“It's kind of fascinating to fight your own prejudice against yourself. I'm constantly doing that,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor admitted: “I'd love to get to a point where I didn't feel the need to make a joke of my being older and having a baby...To show I'm in on the joke.”

Miller and her partner Green first began dating in 2021. He’s also an actor and has appeared in 2023’s A Good Person alongside Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman, as well as Imelda Staunton and Dominic West in an episode of The Crown that same year.

The star previously told Harper’s Bazaar that it was never her intention to fall for a younger man. “I didn't expect to take it seriously and then quite quickly, I fell in love,” she said of their relationship.

“I wasn't like, ‘I'm gonna get a younger boyfriend,’” she added. “It was more, ‘F***! Why are you young? That's so annoying’."
