Shrewsbury Town sent a message to Manchester United following Liverpool’s 4-0 win over their bitter rivals at Anfield on Tuesday night.
The Reds were given an early lead by Luis Daiz after the Colombian combined with Mohamed Salah, who then doubled the advantage midway through the first half. Sadio Mane then ensured the victory after the break before Salah got his second to complete the scoring.
It was a win that moved Liverpool two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table and further dented United's hopes of grabbing a Champions League spot - and led to some mocking on social media.

And in response to one Manchester United fan claiming that their side looked like Shrewsbury on Tuesday night, the club's official Twitter account replied: “We scored at Anfield this season. You didn’t. Levels.”
Shrewsbury came up against the Reds at Anfield in the FA Cup third round in January and took a shock lead through Daniel Udoh. However, Liverpool were quick to respond as Kaide Gordon equalised with his first senior goal before Roberto Firmino and a brace from Fabinho gave Jurgen Klopp’s side an eventual 4-1 victory.
Liverpool’s win over United on Tuesday means they have scored nine goals without reply across two league meetings with the Old Trafford outfit this season. When the clubs met in Manchester in October, a hat-trick from Salah set the Reds on their way to a statement 5-0 away victory.
