Fans of the Boston Celtics are, by and large, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness for the upcoming season after a major shakeup to the storied franchise’s core. The team’s front office took a big swing, betting on Kristaps Porzingis’ health as much as it is his ability to improve the Celtics’ late-game offense.
Falling short of a championship would be disappointing, given the team’s consistent competitiveness — and could presage even greater shakeups to the team in the 2024 NBA offseason. Health and availability could decide the success of this high-stakes experiment as well.
With not only Porzingis but also Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III and Al Horford being risks to miss time in Boston’s 2023-24 campaign, Boston will have to hope it has enough depth to get to the postseason mostly healthy.
