Kim Kardashian was last month officially named as the face of Balenciaga after wearing the brand almost exclusively for months. And, her latest look proves she’s the official body of it, too.
The SKIMS founder attended the fashion house’s Paris Fashion Week show this weekend in an athletic top and leggings that were covered completely in black and yellow caution tape emblazoned with the brand’s name.
Hand-wrapped by four assistants backstage (who also wrapped one of Balenciaga’s cult hourglass bags to go with it), the DIY creation hung on for dear life to the star’s famous curves.
“Should I just let it rip,” she apparently deliberated, according to New York Time’s chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman, as she attempted to sit down next to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour before the show started. Luckily, the FROW stayed fashion faux pas-free. Though Friedman also commented that the look caused Kardashian to make a “sticky tape-y sound” when she walked.
The look was such a resounding success that Balenciaga will be selling the tape so the “outfit” can be replicated at home.
The former reality star-turned-business mogul is no stranger to a catsuit, having worn a full-body and face black bodysuit with a billowing train to the Met Gala last September, and a hot pink number complete with a gigantic ruffled cloak for her Saturday Night Live debut back in October. However, this ensemble is by far her most daring to date.
It was her first public outing since being declared legally single — following her messy and public divorce from rapper Kanye West - so it’s good to see Kardashian making headlines for her successful solo fashion week debut.
Alongside being Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia’s muse, this season the once-shunned Kardashian was further invited into the fashion fray – attending other high profile catwalks such as Prada’s fall 2022 menswear show.
Not bad for someone who was once Paris Hilton’s closet organiser.
