'Shots fired' at Derry bonfire investigation leads to seizure of items

Derry Police PSNI

Police in Derry have seized 'a number of items' as part of their investigation into reports gun shots were fired during a nationalist bonfire on August 15.

Detectives investigating a report of shots being fired in the vicinity of Meenan Square earlier this week conducted a search in the area on Wednesday morning, August 17.

Shortly before 11.20pm on Monday night, police received a report of shots being fired in the Bogside area where the bonfire was. Police are now encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
