Shoppers urged to check their air fryers following product recall

A popular brand of air fryers has been recalled in the US due to reports of fires and burns, the country Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

While Cosori Air Fryers are most commonly bought in Canada and Mexico -with roughly 250,000 and 21,000 products recalled in the countries respectively - it is still possible that some customers in the UK may also have purchased the product due to its availability on online retailers such as Amazon.

The company also clarified that the recall is only for products manufactured for and sold in the U.S, Canada, and Mexico and shouldn't impact models found in Europe, Asia, and Australia.

However, if you purchased a Cosori Air Fryer online, it's worth double-checking where it was manufactured in order to avoid any accidents. If you're a UK customer and have found that your product was manufactured in the US, then it is advised that you immediately stop using the air fryer and contact Cosori with a photo of the recalled product as well as details of where you purchased it.

CPSC reported that 10 incidents of minor, superficial burn injuries and 23 reports of property damage have been claimed.

Overall, Cosori has received 205 reports of its air fryers catching fire, burning, and melting. The kitchen appliance company, which is owned by Chinese parent company Vesync, confirmed that all of its products go through "rigorous" and routine testing in order to ensure consumer safety.

In a statement, Cosori said: "After a thorough investigation, we determined that in extremely rare circumstances, the closed-end crimp connectors within the recalled air fryers - which are responsible for establishing electrical connections between certain wires - can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

"Cosori is committed to the safety of those who use and love our products, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience."
