Hundreds of children have been preyed on for decades by Catholic priests in Rhode Island, with the church leaders getting away with sexual abuse largely due to bishops prioritizing minimizing scandal, according to findings released on Wednesday.

The findings were part of a multiyear investigation into the Catholic Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island, led by Attorney General Peter Neronha.
