Shoppers have said it is 'crazy' how much own-brand butter now costs in supermarkets across the country after failing to find a standard 250g packet for much less than £2. People took to Facebook to describe their disbelief at being unable to find the staple spread and baking ingredient for a decent price.
One shopper said the price had rocketed from a recent £1.45 to now costing £1.99 - while an expert said they used to be able to find butter for 65p. Shoppers aid the pattern was the same across many supermarkets, sharing pictures of a similar price in many of the big-name chains.
